Triumph bei den amerikanischen MTV Awards Tokio Hotel – werden sie die neuen Beatles?

Was für eine Überraschung: Unsere Jungs von Tokio Hotel räumten bei den „MTV Video Music Awards“ vergangene Nacht in Los Angeles den Preis als beste Newcomer ab. Im Vorfeld gab Frontman Bill sich ganz bescheiden: „Wir glauben nicht, dass wir gewinnen, aber es ist eine große Ehre, hier in Amerika nominiert zu sein.“ Seine Prognose war falsch, Tokio Hotel ergatterten den Preis. Werden sie jetzt international so berühmt wie die einst die Beatles?

Auf dem besten Weg dahin sind Bill (19), Tom (19), Gustav (20) und Georg (21) auf jeden Fall. Als einzige ausländische Band waren die Magdeburger bei den diesjährigen „MTV Video Music Awards“ gleich zweimal nominiert: in den Kategorien „bestes Video“ und „beste Newcomer“. Im Kampf um den Preis für das „beste Video“ unterlagen sie Britney Spears („Piece Of Me“), doch als beste Newcomer räumten Tokio Hotel den begehrten „Moonman“ ab – trotz großer Konkurrenz von US-Stars wie Miley Cirus oder Katy Perry („I Kissed a Girl“). Gewählt wurden Tokio Hotel übrigens ausschließlich von den US-Fans – Zeichen, dass die vier Jungs es endgültig geschafft haben im Land der unbegrenzten Möglichkeiten.

Werden Tokio Hotel jetzt zu Weltstars wie damals die britischen Beatles? Überall, wo Tokio Hotel auftaucht, flippen Tausende Fans völlig aus, fallen reihenweise in Ohnmacht. Eine Hysterie, wie es sie in den 60er-Jahren schon bei den Beatles gab. Egal ob Frankreich, Polen, Österreich, Israel, Kanada oder jetzt Amerika – die Tokio-Hotel-Begeisterung überrollt den ganzen Globus.

Auch Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison und Ringo Starr, die „Fab Four“ aus Liverpool, sorgten in den Swinging Sixties für eine Revolution in der Frisuren-Mode: Jeder wollte den legendären „Pilzkopf“ haben, den die vier Jungs so berühmt machten.

Egal, wie sehr man in Paris oder New York nach Tokio Hotel verlangt – ihre Heimat lassen Bill und Co. hoffentlich nie in Stich..
